Maize Oil can be used for massage oil, although it is not that popular. It can carry essential oils and as such can be used in aromathrapy massages. It has a mild nutty flavor which should go well with essential oils of nuts.

PROPERTIES:

Maize Oil is an edible oil with a few therapeutic properties.

• Anticholesterol – The most studied property of corn oil is its ability to lower LDL blood cholesterol when taken within limits. Corn oil an effective component in lowering blood cholesterol levels. It contains about 60 percent polyunsaturated, 25 to 30 percent monounsaturated, and 10 to 15 percent saturated fats. The high levels of polyunsaturated fats in corn oil, as compared to monounsaturated saturated fats, help lower blood cholesterol levels. The high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids also aid in lowering elevated blood pressure.
• Emollient – It is a moisturizer for the skin.
• Immunostimulant – Corn oil provides essential fatty acids like linoleic acid ( omega – 6 ) which is required for some immune system functions. It is also a rich source of Linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is essential for growth and skin and hair quality.
• Tonic – Linoleic acid is required for proper functioning of kidneys, liver, heart, reproductive system and digestive system.
• Hypotensive – Like olive oil, it reduces blood pressure post consumption in hypertensive patients.
• Antioxidant – Corn oil contains Vitamin E which is an antioxidant that can keeps you healthy.
